Steamboat Springs, Colorado was first settled by James Crawford in 1875 who discovered it in 1874. He wasn't the first settler here. The Ute Indians were here long before the settlers.
The first settlers built one room cabins with hand hewn roofs. The floors
were made of earth tamped down until hard.

Steamboat Springs is a small town in the northwestern corner of Colorado in the U.S.A. Even though Steamboat is known for its skiing in the winter there are many things to do in the summer. Steamboat has its own hill for ski jumping. There is a 20, 30, 50, 70, and 90 meter jump on the hill. Steamboat has produced thirty-six Olympians.
Steamboat Springs has about 7,000 permanent residents and twice as many tourists at the peak of ski season. It is mainly a ranching community.
